The Carnegie Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society in the UK and Ireland has launched two projects that are designed to engage civil society groups in the challenges of climate change and resource scarcity. In particular, the projects are seeking input from civil society groups that have a social rather than environmental focus to their work. We want to make sure we get these projects right, which is why we are keen to hear from you.
A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ASSOCIATIONS
- The Eden Project and the Carnegie Inquiry
We are developing a ‘guide’ that will enable and inspire organisations that do not have an environmental focus to better understand and respond to the challenges and opportunities ahead.
A questionnaire has been developed primarily targeted to civil society associations who do not have environmental concerns at the core of what they do. For example, you could be working on issues such as health-care, financial exclusion, poverty etc. We want to know about how you feel these issues influence your core concerns and activities, so don't feel that you need to know about the science of climate change, or that you should pass it to the office 'eco warrior'.
The questionnaire should be answered by someone who can answer accurately and authoritatively on behalf of their organisation. It should not take longer than 10 minutes to complete.

BRIDGING SOCIAL JUSTICE AND CLIMATE CHANGE
- New Economics Foundation (nef) and the Carnegie Inquiry
This project will explore how practically the social justice and climate change agendas may be bridged and the distinctive role of civil society associations in doing so. We are particularly keen to hear about initiatives that demonstrate a recognition of the two agendas.
