A Practical Guide for Non-Environmental Civil Society Organisations

The Carnegie UK Trust is working with the Eden Project to develop a ‘guide’ that will enable and inspire organisations that do not have an environmental focus to better understand and respond to the challenges and opportunities ahead connected with growing pressure on global resources and climate change.

The project stems from the findings of the Inquiry’s exploration of the possible threats to and opportunities for civil society, looking out to 2025. Growing pressure on global resources and climate change were highlighted as major challenges to the future well-being of civil society, yet there were shared concerns about how civil society could act meaningfully in the face of these challenges. Please click here to read a paper written by Tony Kendle of the Eden Project which outlines some of the key challenges and opportunities civil society faces.

The Eden Project, along with The Sensory Trust, ran a series of workshops during autumn 2008, as detailed below, to create ideas and content for the guide as well as to feed into the Inquiry Commission’s concluding report.

We also sought contibutions through an online survey. To find out more about this survey and to contribute to this project please click here.

The 'guide' will be available to order hard copy or download electronically in spring 2009.
