The Democracy Initiative is planning to build on the work of the Carnegie Young People Initiative by paying particular attention to the voice of children and young people.
We are part of a Network of European Foundations who are working together to scale-up our efforts to support student voice across europe.
Through the Initiative for Learning Democracy in Europe the Carnegie UK Trust works together with other foundations to extend and deepen democracy education, as a living experience, throughout Europe. It links closely with the follow-up to the 2005 Year of Citizenship through Education organised under the auspices of the Council of Europe.
The foundations involved in this work are:
- The Evens Stichting (Belgium), the Freudenberg Stiftung (Germany), the Carnegie UK Trust (England), the King Baudouin Foundation (Belgium), the Fondation Bernheim (Belgium), the Bertelsmann Stiftung (Germany), the Hertie-Stiftung (Germany), the Education for Democracy Foundation (Poland), the Education Reform Initiative (Turkey), the Compagnia di San Paolo (Italy), the Madariaga European Foundation (Belgium).
