Commission of Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society in the UK and Ireland

Kumi Naidoo Events

Posted on 04/07/2009

During May 2009 Kumi Naidoo will be speaking at three events in conjunction with the Carnegie Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society.

Kumi is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Carnegie UK Trust along with his roles as Honorary President of CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation and Co-Chair of the Global Call to Action against Poverty campaign.

The first of the aforementioned events, entitled Creating a climate for a just society, will be held on 5 May. This event will focus on the roles of civil society associations in enabling social justice, the barriers to realising a wider social justice framework and how such barriers might be overcome.

The two other events will be exploring the theme of dissent and in particular, the roles of civil society associations in enabling dissent, the key areas where dissent is marginalised, and the practical steps that can be taken to support dissenting voices.

More information about these events will be available on our website soon. To find out more about the Inquiry and Kumi's work with Carnegie please contact Morven.
