Write a Think Piece
The Inquiry continues to welcome think-pieces. Whilst we accept think-pieces on a range of topics the Inquiry is now focused on the themes of:
- The distinctive roles of civil society associations in growing a more civil economy.
- The roles of civil society associations in bridging social justice, climate change and resource scaricty.
- The roles of civil society associations in relation to media ownership and their application of social media.
- The roles of civil society associations in enabling meaningful dialogue and deliberation.
- The marginsalisation of dissent in the UK and globally.
You may find it helpful to refer to the Inquiry working definition of civil society.
Findings from these papers will be shared with the Inquiry Commission. Selected papers will also be posted on the Trust’s website for the purpose of stimulating public debate (we will seek your permission to do so). A suggested structure for these papers is as follows:
- Summary
- Introduction about the issue you have chosen to write about and your analysis of the current situation
- Your insights about future driving forces (which could include social, technological, environmental, economic and/or political) and how they may impact the issue in question.
- What changes in policy or practice may be necessary to diminish possible threats or maximise emerging opportunities.
- Conclusion
- Author’s biography
Ideally, papers should be up to six pages long or a maximum of 2,500 words. You may wish to refer to concrete examples in the paper that reflect your own professional or personal experiences.
All submissions should include details of the author including name, organisation, address, e-mail and telephone contacts. Papers should be submitted to morven@carnegieuk.org.
If you wish to discuss ideas for your paper, please e-mail lenka@carnegieuk.org or call 0207 7856570
